FAQs

What are your fees?

Individual counseling is $125 per session, though this cost may be covered by your insurance provider. We accept Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas, and Cigna insurances.

Group counseling is only available as self-pay, at $65 per person per session.

Immigration evaluations begin at $750.

As a client, you have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" explaining the total cost of your mental health care. Under the No Surprise Act, health care providers must provide patients, who either do not have insurance or choose not to use their insurance, an estimate of the expected charges for medical services, which includes counseling/therapy.

You also have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of counseling services rendered by your therapist. Additionally, you have the right to ask us for a Good Faith Estimate, before you schedule an initial session, during your free 15-min phone call consultation. For more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, please visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

What forms of payment are accepted?

Both insurance and private-pay options are accepted. At Sana Sana, we accept all major credit/debit cards, plus both Flexible Savings Account (FSA) and Healthcare Spending Account (HSA) in the form of a Visa card.

The following health insurances are accepted: BCBS of Texas, Aetna, and Cigna.

When are payments processed?

Session payments are processed at the start of your session time.

Do you offer sliding scale?

a) Bi-weekly or Monthly sessions – As a flexible option, we offer the possibility of bi-weekly or monthly sessions. This allows clients to receive continued support while balancing their financial needs and other responsibilities.

b) FSA/HSA Visa Cards – If your employer offers a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or Health Savings Account (HSA), you may be able to use these pre-tax funds to pay for counseling services. Since counseling is classified as a medical expense, your FSA/HSA card may be a convenient way to cover the cost of sessions.

c) Income-Based Fee Structure – At Sana Sana Counseling, we understand that financial situations vary, and we are committed to making our services accessible. We offer a limited number of slots for clients to receive counseling at a reduced, income-based fee. During your consultation, please feel free to share your financial circumstances, and we will assess your eligibility for this accommodation. If you qualify and there are available slots, we will work with you to find a fee structure that aligns with your needs.

What happens if I arrive late to my appointment, will I be charged a late fee?

At Sana Sana Counseling, we do not charge late fees. However, you are still responsible for paying the full fee ($125) for your scheduled session, as that time was reserved exclusively for you. We do offer a 15-minute grace period, if you arrive within this window, we will provide a shortened, partial session. Please note that even in this case, the full session rate will still apply.

What happens if I need to cancel my session?

We understand that life happens, and everyone is entitled to cancel or reschedule their session for any reason. To do so, please contact us by phone or email at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment. If your request is made within this timeframe, there will be no fee. However, if the request is received less than 24 hours in advance, a cancellation fee equal to the cost of a full session ($125) will be charged.

Why go to therapy?

If you’ve never been to therapy before, you’re not alone, and you don’t need to be in crisis to start. Many people come to therapy simply because they want to understand themselves better, feel more balanced, or stop carrying everything on their own. You may be used to being “the strong one,” helping your family, navigating multiple cultures, or feeling like you have to figure things out by yourself. Therapy can be a place where you get support, without judgment, expectations, or needing to explain yourself. Even if things are mostly okay, therapy can help you check in with yourself, manage stress, and prevent burnout. It can also help when relationships feel complicated, when old patterns keep showing up, or when you’re trying to heal from experiences that were never really talked about. Therapy isn’t about something being “wrong” with you. It’s about learning more about who you are, where you come from, and what you need to move forward. Many clients find therapy helps them build confidence, set boundaries, improve relationships, and feel more at peace in their daily lives.

At Sana Sana Counseling, we understand the cultural, family, and generational experiences that shape mental health. We offer a supportive space to work through concerns such as trauma, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, and stress. We invite you to explore our services and see if therapy feels like the right next step for you.

Requesting Health Care Records

You have the right to request a copy of your mental health records. To request records, please submit a written request to your treating clinician or to the practice directly. Requests may be made via email, "Contact" form, or in writing. Records will be provided in accordance with Texas law and applicable privacy regulations.
